The mission of SICD is to Supporting Social and Economical Development by Facilitating Cluster Development and Innovation.

SICD is originated from a collaboration between Swedish and East African partners since 2003 and Bolivian partners since 2007. The collaboration between SICD and Pan-African Competitiveness Forum (PACF) was formalized by PACF council in 2011.

The host organisation of SICD is Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), campus Karlshamn, Sweden
